February in Poland

February 11 is Fat Thursday, the last Thursday before Lent starts. We definitely like our pączki in Grand Rapids on this day! February 14 is Valentine’s Day which wasn’t observed before 1989 but is becoming more popular February 17 is Ash Wednesday. Due to the coronavirus, the distribution is different this year. The priest will not make a cross on a person’s forehead but instead will sprinkle ashes on them.
