Walenty Grabek Died March 19 1812

Walenty Grabek (my 4th great grandfather) died 19 March 1812 at 6:00 in the evening. He was only 44 years old. He died in Górno in house number 11. He was married but his wife's name is not listed in the death record. But one of the witnesses -- Marcin Walewender -- was her brother. The other witness was Jan Prsybysz. They were both his neighbors. I have only found two children for him and his wife Teresa Walawender -- Lukasz (my 3rd great grandfather) and Zofia. Eleven month after his death, his widowed wife Teresa re-married (to Grzegorz Lebiedowski.) Her husband’s death is listed in this marriage record except he is called Jozef -- not Walenty -- and the death is reported as January 1811 --not March 1812. Someone made an error in this record because later records when his children get married are clear that his name was Walenty. Teresa (my 3rd great grandmother) and her second husband Gregorz Lebediowski had one child Agnieszka.

Teresa (Walewander) Grabek married Grzegorz Lebiedowski 21 Feb 1813

Teresa (Walewander) Grabek (my 4x great grandmother) married for a second time on 21 February 1813. Her first husband (my 4x great grandfather) Jozef Grabicz (Grabek) died a few years earlier on 15 January 1811. Teresa married Grzegorz Lebiodowski, a 34 year old widower. She was 30 years old. None of the witnesses are familiar to me but I list them in case our Polish relatives recognize them: Ignacy Dzierży, Michal Srytrzyszyn, Marcin Trutwa and Andrzej Groch. They had one child Agnieszka two years later.

Marianna Grabek Was Born Feb 10, 1843

"Tomaszów 10 th February 1843 11 o'clock in the morning. Presented himself Łukasz Grabek , peasant from Majdan Górny, age 45 and in the presence of witnesses Tomasz Krawczyk , age 28 and Andrzej Typek ,age 41 , both peasants from Majdan Górny and showed us a female child born in Majdan Górny on 10th of this current month and year at 3 o'clock in the morning from his wife Katarzyna née Krawczyk , age 40 . This child during Holy Baptism today was given the name Maryanna and the Godparents were the above mentioned Tomasz Krawczyk and Katarzyna Krawczyk." (Genealogical Translations FB page, 5/18/2020)********** What I can add to this translation: Marianna is my 2x great grandmother. The Godparent Tomasz Krawczyk was her uncle. The Godmother had the same name as her mother but was her mother’s sister-in-law. Marianna’s parents were married for twenty years before they had her. Marianna’s mother came from Laszczowka and moved to Majdan Gorny when she married Lukasz. When I wrote this two weeks ago, I had only discovered one sibling so far--Rozalia -- but I have now confirmed Jozef and Francis. I will be trying to confirm over the next week Jakub and Apolonia.

Lukasz Grabek (3x great grandfather) died 23 Jan 1861 (Reported 25 Jan.)

“On 23rd January at 5 o'clock in the evening died Lukasz Grabek (my 3x great grandfather), widower, age 61, born in Majdan Gorny. On 25th January 1861 9 o'clock in the morning, presented themselves Jakob Raczkiewicz, age 39 and Piotr Raczkiewicz, age 50 , both peasants from Majdan Gorny and confirmed that he died.” His wife Katarzyna Krawczyk died March 28 1853, eight years before him. She was 53 years old when she died. She had been born in Laszczowka but lived in Majdan Gorny for the previous 31 years with Lukasz after they were married. Lukasz and his wife had a daughter Marianna (my 2x great grandmother.) The witnesses were people close to them: Marianna’s husband's brother was Jakub and her husband’s uncle was Piotr. Lukasz was born about 1798 in Majdan Gorny. His parents were Walenty Grabek and Teresa nee Walawender. His father died when he was 14 and his mother remarried about a year later. Lukasz was married when he was 25. He was living with his mother and stepfather Grzegorz Lebiowdoski(a widower) and they were peasant farmers from Majdan Gorny. The bride was Katarzyna, 20, who lived with her parents, Antoni Krawczyk and Dorota nee Lokaj, peasant farmers, from the village Laszczowka. The witnesses were Marcin Walawender, 55 (his stepfather), Jan Garbul, 30, Jozef Litwin, 54, and Bartlomiej Krawczyk, 36, (his brother-in-law) all peasant farmers. The first two were from Majdan Gorny and the other two were from Laszczowka. Their daughter Marianna was born 1843 and when she married in 1862, both her parents were deceased. When I wrote this on January 1, 2021, I was sure they had other children but I had not “found” them yet. I have since found a sister Rozalia. There may be more siblings to be found. Lukasz Grabek Marries Katarzyna Krawczyk Nov 21 1823

On 21st November 1823, at 3 o'clock in the afternoon, Lukasz Grabek and Katarzyna Krawczyk were wed in Tomaszow Lubelskie. They were my 3rd great grandparents. They were from my grandfather Anthony Raczkiewicz’s father’s side--part of the family that lived in small villages outside of the city to the northeast and worked as peasant farmers. Lukasz Grabek was 25 years old and working as a peasant farmer in Majdan Górny. His father, Walenty Grabek, had died when Lukasz was about 14 years old. His mother Teresa née Waławender remarried when Lukasz was about 15 years old. When he got married, Lukasz had been living with his mother and step father Grzegorz Lebiedowski, also a peasant farmer. The bride, Katarzyna, 20, was from Łaszczówka, about four and a half miles away. This village is outside of the city to the southeast. She was the daughter of Antoni Krawczyk and Dorota née Lokaj, peasant farmers, residing in village of Łaszczówka, The banns were announced on 9th and 16th of November, 1823. .The witnesses- Marcin Walawender, 55, Jan Garbul ,30, Józef Litwin, 54 and Bartłomiej Krawczyk, 36. They were all peasant farmers. The first two were from Majdan Górny, the groom’s village and the other two were from Łaszczówka, the bride’s village.

Antoni Raczkiewicz Marries Marianna Grabek (Anthony Raczkiewicz's Grandparents)

Today is the anniversary of Antoni Raczkiewicz and Marianna Grabek. They were my 2x great grandparents. On 16 November 1862, Antoni Raczkiewicz and Marianna Grabek were wed in Tomaszow Lubelski. Antoni was a 20 year old peasant farmer working in Sabaudia who had been born in nearby Majdan Gorny. Twenty year old Marianna was born in Majdan Gorny. The parents of the groom were Michal Raczkiewicz and Anna nee Dominik from Sabaudia who worked as peasant farmers. Antoni was the 11th of 13 children born to their family. The parents of the bride were Lukasz Grabek and Katarzyna Krawczyk and they were also peasant farmers. Antoni’s older brother Marcin Raczkiewicz, 40, was one of the witnesses. The second one was Jakub Herda, 45, a peasant farmer from Gorno, who was married to Antoni’s older sister Marianna. # 66/1862. . . The marriage proceeded after the release of 3 banns on November 2, 9, and 16 in the parish church in Tomaszów. They received their parents’ verbal permission to the wedding and didn't sign the prenuptial agreement. This record was then read to them and signed by the priest only since they were illiterate.
